Snowshoe Demonstration Station

For those enthusiasts who would like to try snowshoes for the first time, we will have the Snowshoe Demonstration Station set up near the race start on March 4. You can strap on different styles of snowshoes and experience the mode of transportation used during the fur trade era.

Klondike Days is excited to once again host the Northern Access Special Olympics’ Unified Snowshoeing group (comprised of Project UNIFY’s Special Olympic and Peer Partner Athletes) as a part of our Snowshoeing Festivities.

Participants involved in Unified Snowshoeing met at the Eagle River Elementary School on Monday afternoons for eight weeks where peers practiced alongside Northern Access athletes.

On Sunday, March 4, before the Snowshoe Kids’ Race, participants from Northern Access Special Olympics will participate in the 50, 100 and 200 meter races.  Participants in Project UNIFY will participate in a 100 meter relay with teams consisting of Special Olympic athletes and peer partners.

These races will begin at 10:30. We invite you to come cheer them on, and to celebrate their snowshoeing skills!

SEE YOU SOON! We invite outdoor enthusiasts of all abilities to come out and join us at the Snowshoe Challenge on March 4. For more information, contact Keilah Frickson at 715-479-4442 or keilah.runnergirl@gmail.com.
